I just spent the last hour trying to figure out why my middle mouse button wasn't working in Maya 2012 or 2011. I tried changing the user interface settings, then searching online for the slim chance that other people may have had the same issue, and finally I searched some of my old boxes for a new mouse.
It turns out, when you set up the preferences of your Logitech mouse, you can set your middle mouse button to be a click, a right click or a middle button click. I clearly missed that last one the 5 times I checked the preferences.
Anyway, I'm all set up now!
