Week 2 just started today and I've been on the Animation Mentor site for the majority of the day! I've been catching up on some of the training videos and the real treat for today were the 2 Q&A sessions this evening!
(A Q&A is like a live video chat with 1 moderator and all the attendees participate in a chat room. If an attendee has a question, the moderator can bring them up on the video and the whole chat group can view both the moderator and the attendee with a question.)
Anyway, the first Q&A was about workflow and body mechanics. It was really great getting another person's view on setting up shots and working from pose to pose. The second Q&A was open for all the Class 1 students and was with one of the co-founders of the school. The second Q&A was AWESOME! It was great chatting casually about working in the field. It was also really inspiring to hear some of the stories he told. In short, it was totally worth staying up past midnight to soak up all the greatness that comes from talking to a co-founder of the school I'm attending!
I'm still really excited right now from all the energy of the mentors and students, and it is probably going to be difficult getting to sleep tonight. So, I'll probably bring my laptop to bed with me to watch some more videos from the site.
As a side project, my friend's son (who has to be the most awesome 7-year-old I know) just made a request to me to make an animation of his current favorite toy. So, I've got a mini-project ahead of me filled with modeling, rigging, animating and all the other fun parts that go into making a short for him. Stay tuned...
